Stepping Stones, NAMI receive awards from AT&T

JOLIET – Stepping Stones and National Alliance on Mental Illness both were awarded Thursday with an AT&T “Investing in Illinois Award” for their respective nonprofit work to help people in Illinois.

“There are great nonprofit organizations improving lives in Illinois. By supporting these organizations, we’re strengthening the communities we serve,” Jeff Adducci, external affairs manager for AT&T, said in a news release

Stepping Stones will receive $1,000 from AT&T to be used to provide substance use disorder treatment for those suffering from the disease of addiction, even if persons served are unable to pay for the cost of services.

NAMI will receive $1,000 from AT&T to be used to expand services in Will and Grundy counties.

State Sen. Pat McGuire, D-Joliet, nominated Stepping Stones and NAMI for the recognition from AT&T.

The AT&T “Investing in Illinois Awards” provide resources and recognition to organizations and programs that improve lives in their communities and the state. They’re advancing education, economic growth, new technologies and other essential community services, according to the news release.
